Mariners lose big at home, gain point in Amherst

A pair of losses for the Yarmouth Mariners on the weekend.

They fought hard in Amherst on Saturday night, losing 3-2 in overtime.

Thomas Fontaine made 38 saves in the loss, Jared Pitman and Nathan Carter had the goals.

The single-point performance happened just 24 hours after a 6-1 loss on home ice to Fredericton.

The Mariners are back at it this weekend with a game in Summerside on Saturday night, then a home game versus the Bearcats on Sunday.

Yarmouth sits in 2nd place in the Eastlink South Division with a record of 8-5-2-1.
