A pair of Nova Scotians were taken in the first ever Professional Women’s Hockey League draft.

Long-time Team Canada forward Jill Saulnier of Halifax was taken in the 7th round by New York.

Yarmouth defender Allie Munroe was drafted by Toronto in the 9th round.

The team will be coached by Spryfield’s Troy Ryan.

New Glasgow’s Kori Cheverie heads up the Montreal franchise behind the bench.

It was an historic day, as a women’s hockey draft had never been held before.

The league will start with 6 teams in the new year.
