A 24 year old man from Toronto has been charged with human trafficking.

Thunder Bay Police were called to an assault taking place at a motel on the city’s south side Monday night.

A woman had been allegedly been assaulted by a male suspect.

Police located him and learned the female had been trafficked from western Canada and the man was receiving material benefits from her as a result of his trafficking activities.

He has been charged with:

• Assault
• Assault Causing Bodily Harm
• Trafficking in Persons
• Material Benefit Resulting from Trafficking Person
• Forcible Confinement

He appeared in Thunder Bay Court on Tuesday and has been remanded into custody following another court appearance.
