A reminder that milk prices will rise on September 1.

The New Brunswick Farm Products Commission says it’s going up by 6.5 cents per litre.

This is the second price increase this year.

“We understand a second price increase this year will have an impact on consumers,” said commission chair Bob Shannon. “The increase is required as dairy producers and processors continue to deal with rising costs.”

Dairy farmers are paying more for feed, machinery and equipment repairs, fuel and oil, custom work and hired labour.

Pricing under the school milk program will remain unchanged.
