High bacteria levels in the water at Kearney Lake Beach and Albro Lake Beach have forced the city to close them indefinitely.
Both beaches are supervised, and municipal staff regularly test the water to determine their safety. They will continue testing while the beaches are closed to find out when it is safe to swim again.
High bacteria levels can be caused by a number of factors, including dogs, birds, wildlife and impacts from climate change, such as high temperatures, lower water levels and decreased rainfall.
