A traffic stop near Shabaqua has lead to drug and weapons charges against an Alberta man by Ontario Provincial Police Wednesday.

During the stop, the OPP brought in their canine unit to assist and located both cocaine and a prohibited weapon with a prohibited device.

The 46 year old from Red Deer has been charged with:

·      Possession of a substance for the purposes of trafficking 5(1) CDSA
·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon or device x2
·      Possession of a prohibited weapon or device while on a prohibition order

He has since been remanded into custody.
