First responders are on the scene of a multi vehicle collision which took place shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Highway 11/17 east of Highway 587.

A social media post from Shuniah Fire and Emergency Services says four vehicles are involved and some of those in the vehicles required extrication.

An update posted from the OPP just after 6:00 p.m. states tow trucks are now on scene and that the eastbound lane has been reopened.

They are asking motorists driving through the area to drive slow and to proceed with caution.
