It’s a double race weekend for the Borderland Racing Association at Emo Speedway.
Director Alyssa Strachan says it’s known as the Rea Memorial.
“It’s usually sponsored by the Rea family. They have been involved in the Speedway for a really long time, and the Reas have been a pretty big part of the Speedway for many years,” says Strachan.
Drivers from Manitoba, the U.S. and Thunder Bay are expected to attend, joining those from across the Rainy River District.
Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m., both tonight and tomorrow.
Strachan says there will be some special activities.
“We have a couple of bikes that have been donated for each day, and we’ll be giving them away to kids throughout the evening.
We will be having a special redraw with the drivers of each class. So they’ll come down to the grandstands and do a redraw in front of all the fans, and all the fans will know where they start for the features.”
This weekend’s races count in the final points standings.
Heading into the weekend, Jeff Davis of Devlin has a comfortable 120-point lead in the modified division over Cameron Brown of Rainy River.
Brandon Rehill of St. Andrews, Manitoba, leads by 53 points in the mid-west modified division ahead of Garret Paul of Fort Frances.
Tylar Wilson of Fort Frances has a 130-point lead in the street stock division ahead of Doug Derendorf.
