A Moncton man and woman have been arrested and charged following a drug trafficking investigation in the city.
The New Brunswick RCMP Provincial Crime Reduction Unit (PCRU) began the probe in February.
On April 6, Mounties used a warrant to search a home on Mill Road where a 39-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were arrested.
A second woman was also arrested on an unrelated matter and later released.
Police used a second warrant at a home on Salisbury Road later the same day.
As a result of both searches, police seized significant quantities of suspected crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, MDMA, money and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
A loaded and restricted firearm, and four prohibited weapons including a homemade taser were also seized.
On April 7, the two individuals appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand and were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine and further charges were jointly laid on April 11.
Both individuals remain in custody and are scheduled to return to court on April 18.
RCMP urge anyone with information about illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood to contact their local police.
