A 43-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman from Moncton face charges following a drug investigation.
In December 2022, the Codiac Regional RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit and the New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit (NBIEU) began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in Moncton.
On January 11, police searched a Waverly Avenue home where they seized what was believed to be crystal meth, amphetamine, and fentanyl along with weapons and money.
The two people were arrested the following day. The woman was later released.
On January 12, the man appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking amphetamine
- Unsafe storage of firearms
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon
- Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000
- Fail to comply with release order condition
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on January 16.
