We’re bracing for our first winter storm, but it’s not snow.
Up to 50 millimetres of rain could fall tomorrow into Saturday in some areas of the province, along with up to 90 kilometre an hour wind gusts.
Special Weather Statements are in effect for all of Nova Scotia.
The storm is expected to begin late tomorrow morning in Southwestern NS before reaching Cape Breton by evening.
Large waves will create higher than normal water levels along the southern coastline.
Nova Scotia Power will open their Emergency Operations Centre tomorrow morning.
Storm lead Sean Borden says crews will be positioned across the province so that potential power outages can be restored and holiday plans can go ahead.
With high winds and heavy rain in the forecast for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, we will be opening our Emergency Operations Centre on Friday morning. This storm is part of the same system expected to affect most of our neighbours in eastern Canada and northeastern US. pic.twitter.com/R1FM9PCGug
