Update: Wildfire burning in Queens County now under control

By Caitlin Snow May 20, 2026 | 7:21 PM

A wildfire burning in the community of East Port L’Hebert, Queens County is now under control, according to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

DNR made the post about 10:30 a.m., Thursday.

As of Wednesday, around 9 p.m., DNR said the three-hectare blaze was being held, about one hour after it was still labelled as out of control.

Earlier in the day the province had deployed its four new fixed wing air tankers and bird dog to battle the fire.

The blaze came on the heels of a heat warning for that area of the province.
