Heads up for drivers — construction is set to begin in parts of Halifax and Dartmouth and could impact your morning commute.
Work starts today, May 12, at 7 a.m. in Halifax and 9 a.m. in Dartmouth.
On Dutch Village Road, work will take place on weekdays until 6 p.m. as crews wrap up final touches on the Complete Streets project, including landscaping and permanent upgrades. The project is expected to be finished by June 19.
Officials say the road will remain open in both directions when possible, but drivers can expect stop-and-go traffic and delays. Sidewalks and bike lanes will also see shifting closures, with detours in place for pedestrians and cyclists.
In Dartmouth, the road between the Bedford Highway and Windmill Road will be slow-going as crews carry out repairs supporting the Moving Better goals outlined in the 2026–2030 strategic plan.
Officials say two-way traffic will be maintained, with that road expected to fully reopen Friday.
