Honouring the victims on Red Dress Day

By Tara Clow May 5, 2026 | 9:14 AM

The many missing and murdered indigenous women, girls and 2-spirited people are being honoured today.

Red Dress Day is observed annually on May 5.

Canadians will stand on Tuesday with the families who are still searching for answers.

According to Amnesty International Canada, six in 10 Indigenous women in this country have experienced physical or sexual assault in their lifetime.

Events have been organized across the country.  In Halifax at noon today, a memorial march will be held starting at the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre on Brunswick Street.
