A local veteran wants to re-name a street after Sgt. Kirk Taylor.
The 28-year-old from Yarmouth County was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2009.
Andre Boudreau with the Wedgeport Legion is looking at re-naming Grove Memorial Drive, which leads to the Afghanistan War Memorial.
He says Sgt. Taylor will never be forgotten.
“We’re really hoping that we can make this happen so that we can finally recognize Sgt. Taylor. I’d love to see his name on one of the streets here,” said Boudreau.
Boudreau says the Municipality of Yarmouth has received the request, and it’s up to the province to make the change.
“He’s the only soldier that we’ve lost to the Afghanistan War. It’s fitting that we do this, so he’s not forgotten.”
