A 45-year-old Weymouth man died in a head-on crash in Digby County.

It happened Sunday night on Highway 101 in Ashmore.

The man was driving, a passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene on foot before RCMP arrived, when he was found he was showing signs of impairment.

The 45-year-old from Bridgetown is facing charges including impaired driving causing death.

He was released on conditions after a court appearance Monday.
