Mount A closes after concerning message

By Bryan Tait Feb 10, 2026 | 8:05 PM

Mount Allison University has suspended all classes and activities for Wednesday after a concerning message was found on campus Tuesday.

The university administration issued a statement that said the following:

Further to last night’s email addressing wellness supports on campus due to a concerning message found on campus referencing February 11, 2026, the University is now taking the next step to close the University on this date out of an abundance of caution.

The RCMP was notified as soon as the message was found, the administration said.

Increased patrols and security presence were also started Tuesday.

While classes and on-campus activities have been suspended, the university said all residences will remain accessible with keys as normal.

The Jennings Dining Hall will remain open until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and again on Wednesday with increased security.

Late-night will be cancelled Tuesday and Wednesday.

The administration asked anyone with information about the situation to contact Campus Security at 506-364-2228.

Campus security will continue to be present, and the situation will remain under review.

The administration said it would share further updates about when the campus will reopen.
