Two men are facing robbery as well as assault charges after an attempted theft from a Halifax Walmart.

Police say it was Sunday around 5 p.m. when one suspect left the store on Mumford Road with stolen goods.

He then assaulted the security guards who confronted him but was restrained by the time police got to the scene.

However, a second man assaulted the guards, trying to free the suspect, and was also arrested.

Both men, 36 and 44 years old, will appear in court at a later date.
