Yarmouth Polar Bear Dip back for 19th year

By Kevin Northup Dec 31, 2025 | 8:59 AM

Some brave souls will take a swim in Lake Milo on New Year’s Day.

The annual Yarmouth Polar Bear Dip takes place tomorrow at noon.

Volunteer firefighter Stewart Deveau says all the proceeds go to the local department.

“We do have firefighters in survival suits in the water. We’ve had ages 8-to-80 take part in this, if you’re under 16 you’ll have to have a parents’ permission,” said Deveau.

It’s the 19th year for the Polar Bear Dip, registration forms are available at Boston Pizza, or at the Milo Boat club tomorrow.

The forecast is calling for a snow and rain mix, with a high of plus-2.

Deveau thanks everyone for their support.

“We have some that have done this every year, and we always have newcomers. A big thanks to everyone for donating, from all of us here at the department.”
