We’re under wind warnings in parts of the province today, including Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick, and Sussex and south-central areas.
Rainfall warnings are also in effect to the south for regions including Saint John and County, St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County, Sussex Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County, Fundy and Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County.
Winds will gust to 90 kilometres an hour today, with up to 110 kilometres an hour along the Fundy coast for Friday afternoon and continuing until Saturday.
Power outages are a possibility.
Up to 25 millimetres of rain is anticipated for Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick, and up to 40 millimetres for those areas under rainfall warnings.
This could lead to localized flooding with the melting snow.
Temperatures will also hit high temperatures that are not normally seen on December 19.
Winter officially arrives on Sunday morning, but Environment Canada is forecasting highs of 12 degrees for Friday. There’s even a risk of a thunderstorm. Temperatures will dip back down below zero by tonight.
