Most boil water areas cleared, Cedar Street still under order

Most neighbourhoods under Moncton’s boil water order that was issued on Monday can now safely drink their tap water again.

The City of Moncton says the order has been lifted for the area bordered by Wheeler Boulevard in the north and west, Millennium Boulevard in the south, and West Lane in the east, as well as Westbrook Circle.

A boil water order remains in place for a section of Cedar Street north of Kendra Street.

The city says that the area was used to flush the system after repairs to the main transmission line and is isolated from the rest of the drinking water network.

Two consecutive days of water sampling are required before the Department of Health can lift the remaining advisory.

The city says the second set of samples has been taken and results are expected on Friday.

Residents who have not used their taps in recent days are being asked to run them for 15 minutes to flush out standing water.

The City of Moncton says it will issue an update when the boil water order on Cedar Street has been rescinded.
