Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home long-term care workers vote to strike

By Kevin Northup Dec 4, 2025 | 6:53 AM

Some workers at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home are the latest to vote for strike action.

The long-term care employees represented by CUPE 3630 are 100 percent in favour of job action.

They’re looking for higher wages and improved recruitment and retention for the sector.

Local president Laurie MacNeil says they want to take care of their residents and do the work they love, but the government is refusing to offer a fair deal.

Dozens of other facilities have either voted in favour of a strike or are in the process of voting.
