Up to 20 cm of snow expected in southern N.B.

By Alex Allan Dec 1, 2025 | 6:33 PM

Southern New Brunswick is bracing for its first major snowfall of the season, with Environment Canada warning of up to 20 centimetres in some areas.

Meteorologist Jill Maepea said snow will begin Tuesday afternoon, continue overnight, and taper off by Wednesday morning.

She noted the heaviest amounts are likely between Saint John and Moncton, while precipitation along the Fundy coast will mix with rain and reduce totals.

Maepea said the system will bring heavy, wet snow that could weigh down tree branches and cause power outages. Winds may gust up to 70 kilometres an hour along coastal areas of the Bay of Fundy.

She added that forecast confidence remains moderate, as snowfall amounts could vary depending on the low-pressure system’s track.

“Any shift north or south of that low will greatly impact our snowfall accumulations for southern New Brunswick,” Maepea said.

Maepea encouraged residents to take extra care on the roads, noting this will be the first accumulating snowfall of the season. She advised drivers to allow more time for travel or delay trips if possible.
