Fire crews save Timberlea home from becoming ‘total loss’

By News Nov 26, 2025 | 12:48 PM

Halifax fire crews saved a home in Timberlea Wednesday from becoming a total loss, according to the Halifax Professional Fire Fighters.

The fire closed a section of St. Margaret’s Bay Road earlier in the day.

The union says the blaze was in the area of the chimney with extension into the first and second floors and attic space.

“Our members from Station 58 and neighbouring stations worked quickly and aggressively to stop the extension, preventing significant damage and saving the home from becoming a total loss,” says the union.

They say it is a reminder to have your chimney cleaned as we head into the winter and have it inspected by a certified professional before using it for the first time.
