Saint John Airport expands baggage belt ahead of holidays

By Alex Allan Nov 21, 2025 | 1:22 PM

Travellers at Saint John Airport will soon see faster baggage service as the airport installs a larger belt to handle more luggage.

The project is designed to meet the growing demand from bigger aircraft now serving the city.

Construction is expected to finish in early December, just in time for the holiday travel season.

During the work, passengers will continue to receive their bags through the customs hall.

Temporary barricades will be in place in the arrivals area, but airport operations will continue as usual.

“This expansion is about investing in our passengers and preparing for the future,” said Lori Carle, the airport’s marketing and public relations manager.

She said the new system will ensure travellers receive the reliable service they expect.

Airport officials say the upgrade will reduce wait times, improve capacity and support long‑term growth at YSJ.
