The government is still reviewing a by-law to protect Dartmouth Cove.

Halifax council recently voted to ban infilling at the site.

But the Premier says they are still trying to understand it.

“There are some ambiguities and there’s a lot of questions. [We] even continue to get different information, kind of daily, as to what it means,” Houston told reporters Thursday morning after a cabinet meeting.

Houston says there are multiple concerning pieces.

For example, he says they think the ban on infilling at the Northwest Arm has an exception for the feds, but the Dartmouth Cove by-law may not.

He says he was told “the Dartmouth Cove one had a little twist on it that it didn’t really matter what the feds said.”

The province has until about the end of the month to determine if they will let the by-law stand.
