Rainfall warnings throughout Nova Scotia

Environment Canada has issued a Les Suêtes wind warning for part of Inverness County.

The warning is for an area from Margaree Harbour to Bay St. Lawrence.

Strong winds that may cause are expected from late Monday afternoon until early Tuesday morning. Maximum wind gusts are expected to reach up to 120 km/h Tuesday evening.

Rainfall warnings have also been issued for the following areas:

  • Guysborough County
  • Halifax County – east of Porters Lake
  • Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
  • Inverness County – south of Mabou
  • Lunenburg County
  • Queens County
  • Richmond County
  • Shelburne County
  • Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County
  • Victoria County
  • Yarmouth County

Environment Canada is forecasting 65 to 85 millimetres of rain, with possibly higher amounts in thunderstorms.

The rain is expected to begin Monday morning and carry through early Wednesday.

Rainfall rates of five to 10 millimetres per hour may occur in some locations. Thunderstorms may develop producing locally heavier rainfall.

Conditions may change rapidly with locally intense downpours.

Water will likely pool on roads and low-lying areas. Some travel delays are possible and visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times.
