The City of Saint John is asking residents, businesses and other stakeholders to weigh in on the future of heavy truck traffic in the Central Peninsula.
The city said the consultation is part of MoveSJ, its master transportation plan.
The plan is designed to create what the city calls a “balanced transportation network,” taking into account parking, active transportation, transit, and the movement of cars and trucks.
The city is now seeking feedback on whether too much of the limited street space in the Central Peninsula is being used by heavy trucks.
Options under consideration include limiting the size of trucks to smaller than a 53‑foot trailer, restricting the hours when trucks can operate, or reducing the size of loading zones.
The feedback will help inform the Common Council when it considers a potential policy direction.
The survey is available online and in paper form at the city’s Customer Service Centre at City Hall.
The deadline to participate is November 12, 2025.
