The provincial government is beginning a regular review of one of Saint John’s major industrial businesses.
The Department of Environment and Local Government announced last week it was starting the 180-day public participation process for the renewal of Atlantic Wallboard’s approval to operate.
Atlantic Wallboard operates a gypsum wallboard manufacturing plant at the site of the old Irving shipyard.
Companies like Atlantic Wallboard are required to comply with the Air Quality Regulation under the Clean Air Act, and to operate under the terms and conditions established in the approval.
Atlantic Wallboard’s current approval expires March 30, 2026.
