The Cape Breton Eagles lost twice in shootouts

The Cape Breton Eagles played close games during their home opener weekend against the Moncton Wildcats.

On Friday, the Eagles’ Eliot Litalien scored the game tying goal that brought on the overtime.

Eagles goalie Félix Hamel stopped 30 of the 32 shots on goal, while Wildcats goalie Rudy Guimond stopped 34 of the 36 shots on goal.

Moncton won the game, three to two over Cape Breton.

During Saturday’s game, Sam Rocca scored his first goal as an Eagle and Lucas Romeo scored another goal for the home team.

The Eagles’ Lewis Gendron sent the game into overtime after a late power play goal.

Hamel stopped 27 of 31 shots on goal and Guimond stopped 29 of 32 shots on goal.

Moncton celebrated their four to three win after winning their second shootout of the weekend.
