Dryden city council is looking to approve two solar projects.

Alectra Energy Solutions and Atura Power need letters of support from the city.

Darius Sokal from Atura says in addition to paying taxes, they are working on a community benefit agreement with the city.

“We’re working out some fine details on our Community Benefit offering to the city, and I think we’re very close,” Sokal told city council recently.

Kevin Whyte from Alectra says their solar farm will include some landscaping.

“The only area that would be of any concern would be on Thiel Road itself, where that can all be dealt with through site plan (control).  Generally speaking, what we do is secure the site through fencing, and would add any shrubbery.”

Council is expected to support three resolutions, including ones for Atura’s solar farm and a battery project and one for Alectra’s solar farm.
