Hundreds of cyclists are ready to ride through Clare.
The ‘Gran Fondo Baie Sainte-Marie’ returns Sunday after a year off due to the World Acadian Congress.
Over 660 people are registered in three distances, a good percentage are tourists.
Clare’s tourism manager Larry Peach says they’re excited to make this an annual event again.
“A lot economic impact happens because of this event. We’re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars when you’re looking at direct and indirect impacts,” said Peach.
The ride starts mid-morning from Universite Sainte-Anne around 8:30 a.m.
Peach says you’re encouraged to line the route with Acadian flags and cheer them on.
“32 percent of our riders are coming from outside of Nova Scotia, that’s amazing to see. We’re also seeing 250 registrants from the HRM. Many like to stay for multiple nights too.”
