‘Walk to Bring Light’ for suicide awareness in Barrington

By Kevin Northup Sep 9, 2025 | 11:02 AM

An event in Barrington will remember those lost to suicide.

The ‘Walk to Bring Light’ begins at the Richard Swaine Field Wednesday at 4 p.m.

It’s being hosted by the Let Your Light Shine society, in memory of Jevon Link, who lost his battle with depression in 2021.

Jevon’s mom Louann Link says it coincides with Suicide Awareness Day.

“We don’t want to lose anyone else to suicide. A 12-minute conversation could be a turning point for someone, we want people to know there is help out there,” said Link.

You’re also encouraged to wear a t-shirt in memory of someone you’ve lost.

There will be a candlelight vigil, music and a guest speaker.

Link says the society has helped many in Shelburne County over the last four years.

“If you haven’t gone through losing a loved one to suicide, you don’t know how it feels. And I realized that suicide is a stigma for some, and that someone had to step up and speak about it.”

About 100 people attended last year’s event, and she says it helps with the healing process.
