Halifax Water wants to raise each bill more than $80

By Jacob Moore Sep 9, 2025 | 7:25 AM

Halifax Water wants to raise rates by about $84 dollars.

The utility says they are a not-for-profit and current rates do not cover their operating costs.

They deliver bills every three months, and the first part of the increase would come in January and go up by about $37.

The second would happen in April and bring bills up by another $47 dollars.

That means every bill would go from about $228 dollars to $312 by April 2026.

Halifax Water already applied to the Regulatory and Appeals Board in May.
