Students at three Université de Moncton campuses returned to class this week.

Officials say Canadian enrolment is up, but international applications are down due to government immigration restrictions.

As of the end of August, full-time enrolments stood at 4,921, compared with 4,765 recorded on August 23, 2024; that’s an increase of 156 enrollments.

Canadian enrollments are up by over 11 per cent, while international registrations fell by 13 per cent.

Canadian students account for 72 per cent of the student body, whereas international students represent 28 per cent.

The school saw strong gains in the science, technical, and health programs, while there were declines in business, arts, social sciences, and law.

On the Edmundston campus, the 89 units at the Louis-Cyr student residence are full, but in Shippagan, 113 spaces are still available in seven residences.

In Moncton, the 614 beds in university residences are fully occupied, but there are still off-campus housing options.

Université de Moncton officials say numbers will continue to evolve throughout September, as students are still arriving and registering for classes.
