Some members of Atikokan Council are wondering if the town should continue operating Bunnell Park.
The issue arose while council recently discussed user fee increases.
The campground generated about $3,000 in revenue for the town each year.
Council Liz Shine wonders if the expense and time are worth it.
“Is it worthwhile for us keeping Bunnell Park when there are so many campgrounds and resorts that are offering that service for a surplus of only $3,000?” asks Shine.
It is not the first time that the issue has been raised at the council table.
Councillor Brian Stimson says their treasurer has recommended on several occasions that they consider getting out of the campground business.
“I think sometimes I think maybe we should take her advice and get rid of a campground, sell it to somebody,” says Stimson.
No decision on the campground was taken.
Chief Administrative Officer Jason Young suggested it was a topic that was better raised during budget discussions.
