Large crowds are expected as Remembrance Day ceremonies return to Greater Moncton.

Traditional ceremonies held at the Moncton Coliseum on November 11th normally attract thousands of people.

The pandemic reduced the number of attendants at services over the last two years, with many by invite only.

First Vice President for Royal Canada Legion #6 in Moncton Peter Beers says veterans and youth get involved as this special day is observed, “It’s very important to attend to show support to the veterans and the ones who sacrificed their lives. They are not forgotten.”

Beers says this year, “There will be a lot more people out, and it’s going to be larger than normal because we’re expecting a big full house.”

Ceremonies will also be held in Sunny Brae with a parade and wreath laying at Victoria Park.

Meantime, Veterans will also be remembered at Riverview and Dieppe services.

The Town will gather at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church starting at 10:50 am  Friday morning.

Veterans, along with fire, police, local cadets, guides and scouts will come together to march to the church.

A reception will follow at Riverview Fire and Rescue on Pinewood Road.

In Dieppe, ceremonies will be held at Ecole Mathieu Martin on Champlain Street starting at 10:30 am to commemorate the signing of the Armistice and formalize the end of World War I in 1918.

A reception will follow at the Dieppe Golden Age Club on Acadie Avenue.
