The provincial government is being criticized for breaking its promise to make a pay-what-you-can lunch program available by September 2025.
Education Minister Claire Johnson has said they need more time because they are still examining exactly how to roll the program out.
“We’re looking at other jurisdictions to make sure that we’re capturing best practices,” Johnson says.
Conservative Education Critic Ian Lee questions where the $19 million for the lunch program has gone and wonders if student hunger will be addressed this year.
