Support from the Royal Canadian Legion in Kenora for the new MRI unit at Lake of the Woods Hospital.

It has provided the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation with $100,000 for its Beyond the Scan campaign.

President Jason Lava says having an MRI close to home will avoid the need for residents to travel out of town for a scan.

The Legion’s donation is among the over $9.5 million raised by the Foundation.

The money will also go toward replacing the hospital’s CT Scanner and improving its mammography unit.

The hospital expects to have its MRI ready for use this fall.
