5 arrested following break-in at Couchiching First Nation

Five people face several charges after Treaty Three Police Service were called to investigate a break-in of a home in Couchiching First Nation.

During the investigation, police discovered over 190 grams of cocaine and $5,200.

This led to the arrest of two people from Thunder Bay and others from Fort Frances, Toronto and Couchiching.

Drug trafficking charges were issued against four of the suspects, while individuals from Fort Frances and Couchiching were charged in relation to the break-in.

Here is the list of charges issued by police;

36-year-old woman from Fort Frances

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Unlawfully in Dwelling House
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 in Canada
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Trespassing at Night
  • Break, Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence

46-year-old man from Couchiching

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Unlawfully in Dwelling House
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Failure to comply with undertaking X2
  • Trespassing at Night
  • Break, Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence

54-year-old woman from Thunder Bay

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine X2

50-year-old man from Thunder Bay

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine X2

38-year-old man from Toronto

  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking
