Charlotte County municipalities close some trails amid dry conditions

By Brad Perry Aug 12, 2025 | 5:27 PM

Municipal officials in Charlotte County are taking steps to reduce the wildfire risk amid extremely dry conditions.

The Municipal District of St. Stephen has closed Dover Hill Park and Cove Park until further notice.

The end sections of the Coastal Link Trail that pass through heavily wooded areas are also closed.

“The middle portion of the trail from the border to the large shelter across from the Garcelon Civic Center will remain open for public use,” the municipality said in a social media post.

In Saint Andrews, all municipal trails are closed until further notice, including the Van Horne Trail.

Eastern Charlotte has also closed all municipal-owned trails, including the Coastal Link Trail in St. George.

The move comes after the province prohibited all industrial and recreational activities on Crown land over the weekend due to the dry conditions.
