A man and a teen have been arrested after a firearm incident that led to a police chase near Saint John.
Officers responded to reports of possible shots fired on Plateau Crescent in Willow Grove around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Witnesses also reported seeing a beige or gold Chevrolet Impala fleeing the area.
While heading to the scene, RCMP spotted a vehicle matching the description.
Officers attempted to stop it, but the vehicle sped off into Saint John and crashed.
Two people fled on foot, while a 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested at the scene by Saint John police.
Police later found a firearm inside the vehicle during their search.
The 17-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and has been released.
He is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
The 22-year-old appeared in Saint John Provincial Court on Monday and was charged with:
- Flight from police
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of a prohibited firearm
- Discharging firearm – recklessness
He remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Thursday.
The RCMP and the Saint John Police Force are continuing their investigation.
