Administration is recommending someone take over as interim fire chief in Fort Frances.
A report to council comes before them at their meeting tonight.
Chief Administrative Officer Marcel Michaels has handled the job since April, when the town opted not to renew a contract with Dave Robertson.
The report suggests the town has saved $12,000 by the move.
In a report to council, Michaels writes that considering the “capacity constraints and the need for longer-term leadership with specialized knowledge, fire operations, it is recommended that recruitment for a Fire Chief commence.”
Pending town council approval, the search would look at both external and internal candidates.
If council rejects the recommendation, they could maintain Michaels or appoint someone else as acting fire chief.
An internal appointment could also be made.
