The OPP are investigating a fatality on Highway 599 north of Ignace.

Just before 6 am on Wednesday a passing motorist reported a body in the northbound lane of the road.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 48-year-old man from Ignace has been identified as the deceased.

Anyone who travelled on Highway 599 or has dash camera footage from the area between 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening and 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Highway 599 all the way to the junction of Highway 642 was closed for most of the day for the OPP to conduct their investigation.
