Natal Day is coming up on Monday, August 4, and while it’s not a designated retail closing day in Nova Scotia, there are still some schedule changes to keep in mind.
Retail and Shopping:
- Most major retailers will be open, including Sobeys and Atlantic Superstore locations, which plan to operate from noon to 6 p.m.
- NSLC stores will follow the same noon–6 p.m. schedule.
- Malls such as Halifax Shopping Centre, Mic Mac Mall, Dartmouth Crossing, and Sunnyside Mall will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Scotia Square will open earlier, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Municipal Services and Transit:
- Libraries across HRM will be closed.
- Halifax Transit buses and ferries will operate on a holiday schedule.
- Municipal beaches remain open with lifeguard supervision, and splash pads will also be open.
- Outdoor pools at the Halifax Common, Cole Harbour, and Bedford will be open, as will the Emera Oval, weather permitting.
- Most recreation centres will be closed.
Waste and Mail Services:
- No curbside garbage or recycling collection on Monday. Instead, Monday’s collection will take place Saturday, August 2.
- Canada Post will not deliver mail on Monday.
