Weymouth gets funding for ‘Electric City’ interpretive centre

By Kevin Northup Aug 1, 2025 | 10:42 AM

Visitors to Weymouth will be able to learn more about ‘the Electric City.’

A new interpretive centre is coming, thanks to a $60,000 investment from the province.

The La Nouvelle France Society wil receive the funding, it will help them tell the story of one of the first hydroelectric plants in North America.

Digby-Annapolis MLA Jill Balser says the project is about building pride, welcoming visitors and creating something that lasts for Weymouth.

The new centre will have space for performances, programming and exhibits.
