4 arrested in vehicle theft case, southeastern N.B.

Four people have been arrested following incidents involving stolen vehicles in southeastern New Brunswick.

Police were called to the parking lot of a Salisbury business after reports of two suspected stolen vehicles around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mounties said both vehicles took off when they arrived on the scene.

One vehicle was disabled on Route 126. Police said that a 20-year-old man from Moncton and a 16-year-old girl from Riverside-Albert were arrested at the scene.

The second vehicle continued fleeing but was intercepted on Catamount Road in Indian Mountain.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Moncton, and the passenger, a 17-year-old girl, also from Moncton, were taken into custody.

RCMP Air Services and Police Dog Services were brought in to assist.

The 16-year-old girl from Riverside-Albert has been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The 20-year-old man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and failure to comply with a probation order. He was released and is due back in court on August 5.

The 17-year-old boy was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, possession of weapons contrary to a court order, and failure to comply with a previous release order. He was released and is scheduled to return to court on August 6.

The 17-year-old girl is charged with possession of property obtained by crime, theft of a vehicle, resisting a peace officer, and failure to comply with conditions of previous release orders. She has been released, and her court date is set for August 1.

RCMP say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking for help from the public.
