The world of dance is more extensive than you may think.
The Atlantic Dance Festival returns, aiming to expose you to all forms of movement.
“We find that dance is one of the most multicultural art forms, where you can understand the language. Everyone has a body and can understand body language in their own way,” Artistic Director Chantal Cadieux says.
“Through the festival, we are helping people to emancipate from the dance world. There is a lot of music and there is a lot of theatre, but not a lot of dance going on, and that was the purpose of having the festival and exposing people to all forms of dance.”
Cadieux adds, it’s a great way to celebrate cultural diversity,
It’s the 19th annual Atlantic Dance Festival and it’s hosted by Dans Encorps, which is a dance company, school and also produces events like the festival.
At the festival, visitors can observe performers of the many styles of dance, including breakdancing, tap and contemporary, but they can also take part in workshops to learn the various forms of movement.
Cadieux adds that there is no limit to how you can express yourself through movement, and dance is a great form of exercise and great for your health.
The Atlantic Dance Festival runs from August 8 to 12 at various locations in Moncton.
