A letter will be sent to the province in an attempt to help address the issue of noisy vehicles in Riverview.

Town Council members approved a motion at this week’s meeting.

“I think everybody has probably, at some point in time, received a complaint from a resident with regards to noisy vehicles in town. It’s an issue that we’re all familiar with. Recently, we did get a resident complaint, and we spoke to the RCMP about this particular one. They notified us that they are actually advocating to the province already to look at some legislative support in terms of making sure the RCMP are equipped to be able to deal with this issue,” Mayor Andrew Leblanc stated.

The Mayor had staff write a letter to the Department of Justice and Public Safety to support the RCMP and its efforts, and presented it to Town Council for approval before it was sent.

Councillor Cecile Cassista made the motion for endorsement, and it was unanimously supported.

“That Riverview Town Council endorse having the letter sent to the Province regarding modifications to the Motor Vehicle Act regarding noisy vehicles “

“I am just really pleased to see this letter. We’ve had a number of discussions within the Union of Municipalities, and this is so current, in other jurisdictions as well. I know that Dieppe is struggling with that as well. I think we need to support the RCMP and our residents as well,” Cassista said.
