Atikokan woman charged for refusing sobriety test

Failing to comply with a police request has landed an Atikokan woman in court.

Provincial Police say a field sobriety test was requested from a 36-year-old motorist after they encountered her at the Atikokan detachment on Monday evening.

Officers suspected the woman had consumed some type of drug.

However, the woman refused, prompting her immediate arrest.

OPP charged her with failing to comply with a lawful demand.

They say failing or refusing to comply with a lawful demand is a criminal offence that is subject to arrest, charges and administrative sanctions.

Along with the charge, the woman’s driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

She was later released and will answer to the charge in court at the end of August.
